Green Hill University

Green Hill University is a foundational element of the overall disciple-making strategy of Green Hill Baptist Church. We offer a variety of learning opportunities each semester (Fall and Spring) in order to create an environment of spiritual growth and maturity. In addition, the path to membership in the spiritual family at Green Hill is facilitated by "GHU."

The membership class, "Discover Green Hill," meets 4 - 6 times per year, either during the Sunday morning Bible Study hour or on a Saturday morning. Class is held in the Harter building. The Sunday morning classes begin promptly at 9:15am while the Saturday morning class lasts from 9:00am until 12:00Noon. There is coffee, juice, and doughnuts to enjoy along with meaningful discussion about what it looks like to be a healthy member of God's church. The next installment of the membership class will meet on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at 9:00am in the Harter Building.

This fall's Sunday afternoon class offering is entitled "Growing in the Love and Holiness of God." We will be reading and studying the book, Sound Doctrine, by Bobby Jamieson. In this concise guide, Jamieson examines exactly what sound doctrine is and exactly why it is so important, both to the believer individually and the local church collectively. The author uses two main ideas as the structure for his argument: first, sound doctrine is for life. That is, it's practical. Second, sound doctrine is for the life of the church. That is, sound doctrine produces lives that are shaped like a healthy local church. The cost of the book is $8.00. Class is held each Sunday afternoon from 4:30 - 5:30 in the Harter building. The first meeting will take place on September 17. The class will conclude on November 12. THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER FOR THIS CLASS IS SUNDAY, AUGUST 27, 2017.

You can register for either of these class opportunities by contacting the Discipleship Pastor, Mike McCormick, by email.

Healthy Church Member

God intends for us to play an active and vital part in the body of Christ, the local church. He wants us to experience the local church as a home more profoundly wonderful and meaningful than any other place on earth. He intends for his churches to be healthy places and for the members of those churches to be healthy as well. This book explains how membership in the local church can produce spiritual growth in its members and how each member can contribute to the growth and health of the whole.

How do you feel about doctrine? Whatever answer comes to mind, this book will not only convince you that sound doctrine is vital for living a godly life, it will also explain the essential role of theology in the life of a healthy church.

Thinking rightly about God affects everything, from guiding us in practical issues to growing a church’s unity and witness. This short, readable book shows how good theology leads to transformation, life, and joy.
