Green Hill University

Green Hill University is a foundational element of the overall disciple-making strategy of Green Hill Baptist Church. We offer a variety of learning opportunities each semester (Fall and Spring) in order to create an environment of spiritual growth and maturity. In addition, the path to membership in the spiritual family at Green Hill is facilitated by "GHU."

The membership class, "Discover Green Hill," meets 4 - 6 times per year, either during the Sunday morning Bible Study hour or on a Saturday morning. Class is held in the Harter building. The Sunday morning classes begin promptly at 9:15am while the Saturday morning class lasts from 9:00am until 12:00Noon. There is coffee, juice, and doughnuts to enjoy along with meaningful discussion about what it looks like to be a healthy member of God's church. The next installment of the membership class will meet on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 9:00am in the Harter Building.

This spring's Sunday afternoon class offering is entitled "How to Help Others Follow Jesus." We will be reading and studying the book, Discipling, by Mark Dever. In this concise guide, pastor Mark Dever outlines the who, what, where, when, why, and how of discipling--helping others follow Jesus. Following the pattern found in Scripture, this book explains how disciple-making relationships should function in the context of the local church, teaching us how to cultivate a culture of discipling as a normal part of our everyday lives. The cost of the book is $7.00. Class is held each Sunday afternoon from 4:30 - 5:30 in the Harter building. The first meeting will take place on January 29. The class will conclude on April 2. THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER FOR THIS CLASS IS SUNDAY, JANUARY 29, 2017.

You can register for either of these class opportunities by contacting the Discipleship Pastor, Mike McCormick, by email.

Healthy Church Member

God intends for us to play an active and vital part in the body of Christ, the local church. He wants us to experience the local church as a home more profoundly wonderful and meaningful than any other place on earth. He intends for his churches to be healthy places and for the members of those churches to be healthy as well. This book explains how membership in the local church can produce spiritual growth in its members and how each member can contribute to the growth and health of the whole.

Before ascending to heaven, Jesus instructed his followers to “make disciples of all nations.” But what does this command actually entail? What does it look like for Christians to care for one another’s spiritual well-being and growth? In this introduction to the basics of discipling, veteran pastor and author Mark Dever uses biblical definitions and practical examples to show how Christians can help one another become more like Christ every day.

This short book explains how discipling should function in the context of the local church, teaching pastors and church leaders how to cultivate a culture of edification and growth in their congregations.
